In 1991, Guy Larochelle created a table field hockey game measuring 12 feet long by 9 feet wide. The 9-inch (23cm)-high figures were made of plastic (polycarbonate), and by heating the stick end, Guy L. could bend it to hit the puck with force through the air along the entire length of the game. The reaction of the players when a shot hit the boards in front of their eyes was spectacular.
Being a soccer player himself, it was at this point that entrepreneur Guy L. had the idea of developing a soccer game where it would be possible to take top corner shots. In his spare time, he began to develop a game based on a new concept, which he refined from prototype generation to prototype generation.
In 2024, 50 years after the arrival of Air-hockey (last truly popular tabletop game) the commercial prototype of POWERFOOT is finally developed.
A UNIQUE GAME DESIGNED WITH CARE
Powerfoot is a solid, durable game. The design, the systems for player and goalkeeper movement and the materials including player’s rope have undergone extensive testing to assess their durability.
Powerfoot’s configuration enables realistic passing and shooting, for a true soccer experience.
A shooting corridor is left free in the center of the game to ensure a good perspective of shots in the air.
The figurines are two-dimensional, made of polycarbonate (an unbreakable plastic material), to ensure a lightweight feel and direct contact with the ball.
The ball-bearing mechanisms have been developed to ensure smooth, durable movement of the figurines.
The choice of a handle mounted on nylon cord was essential to ensure fluidity of movement, speed and shooting power thanks to the natural movements of the user’s hand, wrist and forearm.
We chose to manufacture goals with real netting to add to the realism and fun of scoring.
The design of the base of the game was conceived to free up the playing space at the ends and to ensure great solidity and a good grip on the ground to avoid spills and injuries.
The goal markers have been exclusively designed for the POWERFOOT.
